Lost security key

A security key can't be used without its PIN or your fingerprint, so a lost key is not an emergency on its own — but it should still be removed from your account quickly.

  1. Report it Tell your IT support team. If you use the key for administrator accounts, do this straight away.
  2. Sign in another way Use your spare key, or another method you've registered. If you don't have one, your IT team can issue a Temporary Access Pass.
  3. Remove the lost key In Security info, find the lost key (listed as a passkey or security key, with the name you gave it) and select Delete.
  4. Register the replacement Add your new key from Security info.

Keep a spare

Register two security keys and keep the spare somewhere safe. If you lose one, you sign in with the other and nothing stops.
